Krabi, and the islands of Koh Phi Phi are located approximately 600 miles south of the capital at Bangkok, and although they have always proven popular as a destination for the backpacker and travellers, recent years have seen the region develop a growing reputation as one of Thailands premier scuba diving destinations.
Today, there is a large, and well developed diving industry in Krabi, with the vast majority of the regions dive centres being located in the main resort of Ao Nang, just a few miles outside of the main town at Krabi.
There are a number of excellent dive sites in Krabi, ranging from the shallow local reefs at the small islands just a few miles south of the beaches, through to the excellent, and well known dive sites further afield. The more popular dive sites in Krabi and Koh Phi Phi include Shark Point, the King Cruiser Wreck, and the famous Purple Rock dive site, where sightings of both Whale Sharks and Manta Rays are a regular occurance.
